Facebook: "We disabled more than 1.3 billion of fake accounts"


Guy Rosen, the VP of Integrity at Facebook reported in his blog post how the company is tackling misinformation across its apps.

Between October and December of 2020 Facebook blocked more than 1.3 billion of fake accounts. Most of them were disabled at the time of creation. "Over the past three years, we’ve removed over 100 networks of coordinated inauthentic behavior (CIB) from our platform and keep the public informed about our efforts through our monthly CIB reports", says Rosen. 

Facebook builts teams and systems to detect and enforce against inauthentic behavior tactics, it also uses artificial intelligence to detect fraud.
